This website was created for our ASTU 100 class for an archives project. We were required to visit the Rare Books and Special Collections at the University of British Columbia. After preliminary research, we chose to focus our project on the Olive Allen Biller fonds - a collection of diaries and illustrations created by Allen Biller. As we looked more into Allen Biller’s work, we found that many of her creations could act as a form of feminist representation in such a patriarchal time-period as the late 19th to early 20th century. We believe that these creations should be shown to more individuals. Thus, we created this website as a way to emphasize certain entries of Allen Biller’s diaries in which display her resistance to patriarchal norms. We believe this is important because these entries would not otherwise be readily accessible to the general public and they also represent a dominant social issue.
Thank you for reading our project!
Sincerely,
Ashley, Katie, and Jess
